Cognitive Behavior Therapy has proven to be a highly effective treatment for anxiety and depression. Cognitive Behavior Therapy is based on the idea that your thoughts and actions are connected to your mood. Therefore, in treatment you will learn skills that teach you how to identify different thinking patterns as well as, identify behaviors that may be contributing to your mood. Based on those patterns we will work together to either create tangible change or learn how to accept them.
What is mindfulness?
Mindfulness is a concept that stems from eastern philosophy. The field of psychology has incorporated aspects of mindfulness to treatment as it has been found to be effective in the treatment of depression and anxiety. The definition of mindfulness as it is applied in therapy means having attentional control in the present using a non-judgmental approach. Mindfulness can help you be present in the here and now as way to help you live a fulfilled life. This has a lot of positive implications for individuals who tend to ruminate and “overthink.”
